Pułaski gave his life in a cavalry charge at the Battle of Savannah in October 1779. In 2009, in recognition of his commitment to America’s freedom, Congress proclaimed Pułaski as one of only eight honorary citizens of the United States. Both Kościuszko and Pułaski have retained salutes to their heritage, contributions, and history with many U.S. towns and points of interest named in their honor.
